Busting the Myth
The first thing that needs to change
is the public’s perception of what Foster Care is. One of the biggest misconceptions that the public has is that foster care is an extension of juvenile hall, when in reality foster children have done nothing wrong.
Due to misconceptions like this, there is a lack of families willing to foster the kids who need our help the most.
To combat the myths and misconceptions about foster care, Lizzy has created the #MythMonday social media campaign to increase awareness regarding the wonderful truths of foster care.

Giving Them a Voice
As a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Children,
Lizzy was empowered by the courts to work with judges, attorneys, medical professionals, educators, and social workers to ensure that each child's rights and needs are being attended to while in foster care.
CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they don't get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes.

Changing Their Experience
Changing Their Experience
Lizzy has partnered with Together We Rise,
the national non-profit organization, to change the daily lives of kids in foster care for the better.
By decorating and stuffing duffle bags with books, hygiene kits, and teddy bears, kids see their worth as more than a trash bag.
She has had the honor of being a hostess and volunteer captain for Together We Rise, taking hundreds of foster children to Disneyland where they were reunited with their siblings from whom they had been separated in foster care.
